What changes can Autumn bring to your workouts?
The season changing to autumn brings in a natural opportunity to create changes in your workouts. When you are starting to exercise again in your fifties, a slow and steady approach to improving fitness is often the best approach. We watch the beauty of the natural world changing colour, then effortlessly releasing to make space for the new. Where can you do that in your own fitness routine?
What are the changes in your World?
- A change in season, usually means a change in footwear. How do your feet respond to wearing boots? If you have had plantar fasciitis during the menopause, you may be very aware of any tension spots in your feet. Adding in some foot work to support that’s required to minimise any disruption
- I always notice when the clocks change. Even just an hour, knocks me out of whack for a few weeks. It can have an impact on my workouts as I prefer to exercise first thing in the morning. I can have a few weeks with Pilates or Yoga in my living room rather than going to the gym.
- Living in Scotland, vitamin D is a priority during the winter months. Lunchtime walks are important. If you start to exercise indoors more, then it is a important aspect to top up your vitamins D levels (which can have a big impact on your mood)
