I loved The Chemist by Stephenie Meyer (author of Twilight books).
A contemporary book, that was really quite different from her other books and I had no idea where it was going!.

This was the first fiction book of Liz Gilberts book that I have read. I picked it up because of the reviews on how it was such an entertaining read about showgirls in New York in the 1940s. Loved it!
