The SkiErg machine, was developed for cross-country skiing. Like most cardio kit on the gym floor, it has a dashboard where you can select a pre-programmed training programme. I use intervals by time as that suits my current workout goals, but there are also many other preset programmes for distance and time, as you would expect. There is also a setting on the flywheel which you can adjust the resistance. This is a full body pulling movement performed while standing.

Non-impact Cardio

This is a non-impact cardio type of exercise. Which is great if you are looking for a cross-training option to offset high impact cardio such as  running. Or if you have lower leg injuries or plantar fasciitis. It is performed in standing, but you could easily do it seated too.

Upper Body Focus

While this is a full body movement. The energy, the pull, comes from your arms with a hinge at the hips and a mini squat. It is a movement akin to the Lat Pull down machine, if you are familiar with that. This is a cardio exercise that has a focus on upper body strengthening.

Stress Management

The SkiErg movement is repetitive and rhythmic. Which means it easy to get into a flow state, and therefore a great tool for stress management. It provides a predictive movement pattern that can help you shift into the ‘Rest and Digest’ state of your parasympathetic nervous system.

Have you tried a SkiErg? It is a great non-impact upper body cardio workout that can help with stress management
